Top 5 Sneaker Collaborations of 2022

By Savanna Lattanzi | January 2nd, 2023

Often the most highly coveted releases of the year, collaborations dominate the streetwear market, and the releases this year did not fail to impress. Read on to discover some of the best collaborations that dropped this year.

Taking inspiration from the achievements of black and brown trailblazers, the A Ma Maniere x Air Jordan 4 collaboration resulted in a pair of violet Air Jordan 4s. A Ma Maniere cites tireless work towards generational change as ins[iration for this creation. The classic AJ4 silhouette is the perfect choice for a collaboration which champions the power of youth to affect change. Premiering this past November, this “Violet Ore” collaboration brings vintage feels into a forward-looking design and product.

At the beginning of the month, we received the latest in Travis Scott’s collaborations, the AJ1 Low “Black Phantom”. This design features black suede coverage and a matching dark sole. White stitching provides a subtle contrast, and red embroidery incorporates Cactus Jack branding. A strong inclusion in the line of collaborations, we can expect the finale sometime next year.

These Jordan 2s are an April release, featuring gray canvas and light blue accents. The shoe also includes two external tags and suede overlays. A 35th anniversary special, the “Union Grey Fog” Jordan 2s include a perforated mid-panel and pops of bright red and yellow. The classic Jordan Jumpman is highlighted in pink on the tongue.

Designed by Off-White creator Virgil Abloh, Louis Vuitton first teased this collaboration in 2021. This collaboration is produced outside of the Nike factory, an anomaly for Air Force 1s and highlights the sneaker as a cultural symbol. This design is a tribute to streetwear itself. Art and innovation come together to influence this collaboration, available in multiple colorways.

First worn by daughter Stormi, the “Reverse Mocha” installation in Scott’s line of Nike collaborations released this year. A backwards swoosh is integral to the collaborations this year. Released in July, this colorway includes Cactus Jack branding on the medial panel and neutral browns, creams, and whites color the silhouette.
